The Thank You Book by Danna Smith

The Thank You Book

By Danna Smith

Illustrated by Juliana Perdomo

Little Simon, 2022

This adorable board book is just perfect for Thanksgiving AND any other day of the year when we want to express thanks to someone we meet. As you can tell by the cover, this is not a Thanksgiving book, yet I can see how fun it would be to share it with little readers to give them ideas of how to tell (and show) others thank you. As far as the rest of the year, The Thank You Book is just right.

Colorful illustrations and simple text come together in a delightful package. The rhymes roll easily off the tongue, making it fun to read aloud. From the back cover:

Thanking is easy. Thanking is fun. Can you find a way to thank someone? This lovely book shows us all the ways we can be thankful!

I love how we read about not only ways to say thank you with words, but ways to say (and show) thanks in other ways.

So to you, my readers, thank you for stopping by today! I appreciate you!!

Thank You, Veterans, for Your Service!

My “Taylor in uniform” photos are hiding from me, but this guy is my favorite veteran! Thank you, son, for your service to our country. We love you!

We know so many veterans, from our family, friends, community, and beyond. Thank you for your service and for all of the sacrifices you made to serve our country. Thank you!

With love,

Us

Thank YOU, Veterans! We LOVE YOU!

Once our son enlisted in the Army and spent a tour overseas in Iraq, we realized the depth of thankfulness and pride we had for our son and his fellow servicemen and women.

Thank you. To each and every branch, to every single troop, to all locations of service, and to every type of work, again, I say, “Thank you!”

Thank you for your selfless service and sacrifice for our country. We appreciate you and what you have done.

Thank you for being willing to leave behind your own family – wives, husbands, parents, children, grandchildren, relatives, friends – and travel to far flung destinations. You missed much. Thank you for being willing to miss the day-to-day life events – for us.

Thank you for staring danger and discomfort straight in the face.

Thank you. From the bottom (and top and middle) of my heart, I say thank you.

And families of servicemen and women. Thank you for your sacrifice. The waiting and the missing is never easy.

For those who did not return the way we prayed, my heart is with you. For those who came home draped with a flag, my heart breaks for you and your family.

Thank you.

May we never forget.

Happy 300 blog followers party!

I might be slow, but I eventually catch on. Love, Laughter, and Life has reached 300 wonderful followers. How exciting!

Let’s celebrate!

Music: Upbeat and fast-paced (insert your favorite celebratory tune here; I am hopeless in remembering song titles, unless they are for the 5 and under crowd)

Decor: Balloons, sweet-smelling flowers, streamers, candles (in hurricane lamps for safety)

Dessert: Dark chocolate truffles with a few charcuterie and cheese platters artfully arranged for good measure

Drink: Sparkling water with twists of lemon, lime, and orange

I can’t believe that Christmas is tomorrow, and fast on the heels of this special day, a new year waits to be born!

Thanks so much for visiting and hanging out with me this year. I’ve had fun exploring Haiku and photos, books, recipes, family antics and adventures, travels, and writerly topics. I hope you’ve enjoyed the posts, learned something new, laughed, or maybe wondered into which deep end I’ve fallen.

Merry Christmas to you and your family and friends! Praying that your time together will be blessed.

Peace to you!

In Memory Of

12D72115-B4B8-41F8-9434-7089E41698D8

In memory of those who have served our country, and fallen.

For those who have served, but returned home and have since gone to their eternal rest.

Stories told, remembrances shared, appreciation given, love passed on.

For loved ones still alive in our memories, photo albums, portraits, and hearts.

The torch is still being relayed.

We remember.

From the bottom of our hearts and freedom-filled lives, we thank you.

Thank you.

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
