Dates + PB + Chocolate = YUM

I adore looking at food reels, especially if they include chocolate. I’ve been seeing some form of the above for quite some time, but I never had dates on hand.

I finally remembered to grab a bag at the grocery store so I could try out this treat. So good! Definitely habit forming. I did not follow any recipe, but only the ingredient list. Haha. That’s how I cook.

Chocolate PB Date Treats

12 pitted dates

peanut butter (maybe 1/4-1/3 of a cup?)

1/2 dark chocolate bar

1/2 tsp. coconut oil

sea salt

Place open dates between 2 pieces of wax or parchment paper. I used wax because I overbought several years ago and have been trying to use it up ever since. Forcefully flatten the dates with a rolling pin. Peel off the top wax paper and place the dates and bottom wax paper on a plate or flat tray.

Warm peanut butter in the microwave for 15-second increments, stirring and checking for softness. Spoon peanut butter over each date. It doesn’t take long to soften the peanut butter.

Melt chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave using 15-second increments to avoid burning. Stir often. Once it’s melted, spoon it over each date. Sprinkle on sea salt.

Freeze for at least 30 minutes. ENJOY!

These keep well in the freezer, if they last that long! Delish.
